Are there any crocodiles in the Crocodile River where we raft?

No

Is it difficult to do river rafting?

There are a few technical obstacles to get through, but if you follow instructions from your guide you will be fine.

What is a Grade 1, 2 and 3 rapid?

Rivers are graded from 1 to 6.  Six being the highest and commercially un-runnable.  The Crocodile river is graded at 1, 2 and 3 and can go up to a 4 when in flood.

1 is very small rapids.

2 is a few small obstacles and not problematic if you fall out the raft.

3 is a bit more technical and require paddlers to be able to steer through various obstacles.

How long does river rafting take?

You can book yourself out for most of the day:

We start at 8.30am with a drive through the Lion & Safari Park to the banks of the Crocodile River.  Here Matt will deliver his safety talk and you should be on the water by 9.45am. 

Depending on paddling ability you should reach the take-out point after 2 and a half hours at around 12.30pm.

A quick drive back to the Lion & Safari Park and you should be returned to your vehicle by 1.30pm latest

What is the minimum age?

8 years, obviously with parental supervision. However, we reserve the right of final approval of rafters.

How many people are there per boat?

There is 2 people in a boat. One will steer and and one will row. You will learn all this from your guide.

Are we allowed to take alcohol with us?

Actually, you are not even allowed to be intoxicated when you arrive.

  • Liquid Adventures are legally not allowed to take you on the river if you are intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol.
  • No alcohol is allowed on the river.
  • No alcohol may be consumed at Lion & Safari park prior to you engaging in any adventure activities.
  • Intoxicated rafters are a danger to themselves and other rafters.
  • The staff of Liquid Adventures reserve the right to prevent clients who have been drinking from participating in activities. No refunds will be given.
